I write columns every now and then!
My name is Abdullah bin Zubair, and I am an 12th grader at DPS Srinagar. Poetry and philosophy are my two greatest passions in life. Ever since I was young, I've been captivated by the act of putting my thoughts and emotions into words. At the age of eight, during the turmoil in Kashmir in 2016, I found solace in expressing myself through poetry. It was a tumultuous time, and writing became a refuge for me amidst the aftermath of an anthropogenic disaster. It made me the youngest english poet in Kashmir.
I am a published poet. My only book is “No Place for Good."
I also secured the first position in the school filmmaking competition for my short film, “Lockdown Phir Se.” Even as a high school student, I continue to write and create. Poetry and film will always hold a special place in my heart. In May 2022, I was honoured to recite my poetry at the Pulitzer Center's "Fighting Words Virtual Open Mic" twice. I also write weekly columns for the local daily, you can read them here.
